Michael Postelnick currently is System Coordinator, Antimicrobial Stewardship and Senior Infectious Diseases Pharmacist at Northwestern Medicine, a multi-hospital system in the Chicago area. He practices at McHenry Hospital, Huntley Hospital and Northwestern Memorial Hospital and is board certified in Pharmacotherapy with Added Qualifications in Infectious Diseases. He currently holds adjunct faculty status at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy as well as an appointment as Lecturer in Pharmacology in the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Medical Education. He has authored over 65 peer-reviewed publications. He has been involved in the education and training of pharmacy students and pharmacy residents for over 30 years.
Mr. Postelnick received his Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois in 1976 and completed a residency in Pharmacy and Pharmacology at Rush University Medical Center in 1980. He became board certified in 2003. In 2008, he received the Outstanding Clinical Practice in Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy Award from the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists.
Mr. Postelnick has served as Chair of the Society of Infectious Diseases Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate Committee in 2013 and 2014. He currently serves on the Vizient Pharmacy Council Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and as Chair of the Vizient Pharmacy Council Research Committee.
